This project began in November 2016 and we wrapped up construction in Summer 2018. The project mainly consisted of a full scale renovation of two hotels, two new bars, a new restaurant and kitchen, new Tuff Fit gym and brand new marina.
Project began in early 2017 and was complete summer 2017. The 1909 restaurant was demolished and rebuilt to the current highest standard. MEC was tasked with electrical design and execution of the project, which crews completed flawlessly.
As part of the overall Tofino Resort project, MEC completed the renovation construction of the new marina booking office, and commercial gym next door. Everything from electrical design plans, to lighting requirements was handled by MEC's project team.
This assignment was a tricky one, but was completed by our crews with no complaints or complications. The project consisted of construction of a new hotel block. which was comprised of shipping containers. Due to shipping & delivery issues, the project required specialist attention. Under the guidance of general contractors Heatherbrae Construction, MEC took care of the room electrical renovations, as well as all site lighting, fire alarms and generator requirement. The hotel successfully opened Summer 2018.
Complete winter of 2018, Wildpod is a waterfront glamping project on Grice Point. MEC installed a 400A service, and completed the electrical construction of six glamping pods. Other aspects of the project included site lighting, septic system install, and completion of office building.
Early in 2018, MEC completed the renovation of the Mackenzie Beach front desk area and pool. The project consisted of construction of a new 400A distribution service, wiring of the renovated building and washrooms, and the installation of 25 new RV sites.
Another assignment with BKC Contracting, this project was a smaller one but an important one. Storm Surf Shop & the Koreski gallery are important members of the Tofino Community, and we were happy to help with their new renovation and construction of the new gallery building.
MEC crews were given the task of the electrical safety of the fire hall, and making sure ventilation requirements were met in the bays. This consisted of the installation of a new ventilation control system, which interlocked with the bay doors. A small one but an important one.
This project consisted of the renovation and opening of the new Tofino Coffee building. Project requirements included power distribution, process equipment controls, lighting and sales counter installations.
In spring of 2018, MEC added a new 750-square-foot space as well as a storage room and covered entrance to the district of Tofino's current 4,500 sq. ft., community hall. Project requirements included power distribution, interior electrical and all site lighting.
Completed in early 2017, this project consisted of the extensive renovation of the Hesquiaht Medical Clinic in Hot Springs Cove. Another remote project for our books, our crews are happy to face the challenges associated with completing isolated projects.
Grateful to work with the Surf Grove crew and trades in completing this new west coast camping site at Cox Bay. Starting in 2019, from design to construction and start to finish: RV, tent, staff buildings, maintenance buildings, offices, lighting, and multiple services.
In 2020, MEC and Summit Brook completed a major electrical renovation and upgrade with the Ucluelet Co-op grocery and hardware store. This project also included the installation of a new pharmacy retail space.
In 2020, MEC Projects completed site metering of 128 sites for the Port Authority of Port Alberni China Creek campground.
Working with MKM Projects, MEC Projects is the design-build electrical contractor for an exciting new multi unit commercial project for the summer of 2021 at 4721 Johnson Road, in Port Alberni.
